Just Call Me AUNTIE!

Woo-hoo, yippie, I'm so extremely excited that my sister and brother-in-law, David, will be welcoming their first baby this October! Jake, Ryan and I are so excited. Ryan can already say "baby" and the we occasionally get an "Auntie" out of him. A few months back he said "Cuncle" but not too often...we're working on it!

A little note for Michelle and David (we hope you're reading):

Congratulations on the pending arrival of your little one! We know it's been a rough start (sickness) but we're sure that is soon to be behind you and then you can start focusing on the fun baby stuff like decorating the room, choosing furniture, bedding, agreeing on a name, registering at the baby stores and planning for the big arrival day! Oh, and there is also the uncomfortable sleeping because your belly is so big you can't lay still for even an hour, occasional swelling of your ankles, weekly Dr. appointments, answering to strangers a hundred-or-so times that your having a "boy/girl" and that you still have (fill in the blank) days left before your due date! Of course it is all worth it in the end when you get to bring the little bundle of joy home (and I owe you the first night home - I'll care for the little one while you get a few hours of uninterrupted sleep)!

We love you guys and are excited to meet our niece or nephew in 6 1/2 short months!

Just Keeping Busy

I havent' got anything new to post and share this week - this week has been extremely busy at work, leaving very little time for interaction with the outside world -- or, better known as my family -- before bed time and doing the same routine all over again the next day. Which brings me to the question, do you ever feel like your daily routine is so Routine that you don't even recall how you got from Point A to Point B?
Take my morning drive to work for example. Most mornings I drop Ryan off at daycare and head straight for the freeway for my 10 minute drive. Also most mornings, I don't recall anything from my drive (the cars I passed, the music I heard on the radio, the number of times I cursed at other drivers, etc.) because it's always the same every day! Not that I curse at other drivers every day, but you get the point!
So tonight on my way home from work, I am going to make a conscious effort to really take in my surroundings and heck, I might even take the "back roads" instead of the freeway so I can really enjoy my 10 minutes of peace and quiet before I get home to "Momma. Momma. Momma. Hi!" Although that greeting is one of my favorites!
Sorry for my writers block today. Maybe I'll have something more brilliant to post tomorrow.

Sugar and Spice, and Everything Nice

That's what little girls are made of...and that's why I decided to have a bow-making day today with my good friend, Shelley and her daughter, Madison! I've been reading so many people's blogs lately, many of which have adorable daughters that love to dress up with frilly things and wear cutsie bows in their hair! I found instructions online for making korker bows and decided that was just the thing I wanted to learn to make. I spent an afternoon at Michael's picking out all the pretty ribbon and accessories to make hair bows.

Our finished product looked something like this:

Which, by the way, I am EXTREMELY proud of!! We made Madi 2 bows exactly like the one above and then 1 each of all white and all light pink...but a little smaller in size. Madi, I hope you wear your bows proudly and send me lots of pictures so I can show you off to all my friends!

We also decided on making hair bow holders. I have several different ideas on how these should be made, but decided with one 1 type for today. Here is Shelley's finished product for Madi's bows (including 2 of the ones we made today):

It's hard to tell but the fabric is pink with fairies on it and Shelley decided on pink and purple ribbon to match! And our final finished product for today, is the hair bow holder pictured below.

So, what do you think of my new project? If you have a special little girl you'd like me to make one of these fabulous hair bows and/or hair bow holders for, please let me know, I'd love to get started on it right away - it is something I can do while Ryan is napping or when he goes to bed at night!

I feel a little guilty for not having a cool crafty project to make for Ryan - so I think I might start searching for a cute Easter craft he can help me with...any ideas?

Happy first Saturday of Spring everyone!!

Time Flies When We're Having Fun!

Happy One and a Half Year Birthday, Ryan! My Ryan is 18 months old today. Seems like just yesterday he was the little 7lb 15oz baby I was afraid was too fragile to hold and now he's a 30lb toddler who loves to run, ride bikes and play for hours upon hours.

Just this morning while getting ready for work, I stood and listened to Ryan on the monitor from his room...he woke up earlier than normal and must have been lying in his bed trying to occupy himself. He was repeating all the words he knows, over and over again! It was the cutest thing! It didn't make any sense but it sounded something like this:

"Mommy, Daddy, Basketball, What's That?, Basketball, No, Mommy, Byce (for "Bryce" his cousin), Mmm (kisses), Momma?, bye-bye, peace."

We're headed to Mom & Dad's tonight for dinner with Uncle Chris and Great Aunt Laura both visiting from out of State right now!

The story of us...

I've started this blog to update our family and friends on our little family and the exciting new things Ryan is saying and doing these days! This will be a place I can upload pictures and tell stories about our little man and all the fun things going on in our lives.

Ryan is 18 months old now and running all over the place. He's talking (even though they aren't complete sentences) more and more every day. Currently his favorite thing to say is "What's that?" followed by "Basketball"! Ryan is obsessed with toy balls of every sort. His toy box is overflowing with baseball bats, soccer balls and toy cars!

I look forward to sharing our stories, keeping in contact with family and meeting new friends here. Feel free to comment and let us know you're following us!
